Thy Kingdom Come

kingdom-come

‘Thy Kingdom Come’ is a week-long nationwide prayer initiative initiated by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York with the aim of praying for the evangelisation of our nation. It will take place from 8th to 15th May, the week leading up to Pentecost, and will have at its heart the Lord’s Prayer, but especially the phrase – ‘Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.’

The hope of the archbishops is:

  • For all Christians to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ
  • For all of us to have confidence to share the Gospel
  • For all to the call of Jesus Christ to follow Him as disciples, to live out the Gospel and to seek God’s Kingdom from day to day

Given that Growing Disciples is one of the four priority areas of our recently adopted Mission Action Plan; given that we see developing the prayer life of the church as essential to our discipleship; and given that in God’s divine economy, prayer changes things, we at St John’s and St Luke’s are joining in!

All gatherings will be in the East End Room at St John’s unless otherwise stated. Please feel free to come to some or all! – details are as follows:

Sun 8th May – launch services at both churches

Mon 9th May – Morning Prayer 9am, Afternoon Prayer 3.45pm (family friendly)

Tues 10th May – Morning Prayer 9am, Afternoon Prayer 3.45pm (family friendly), Still Waters at St Luke’s 7.30pm

Fri 13th May – Morning Prayer 9am, Afternoon Prayer 3.45pm (family friendly), Night Prayer 8pm

Sat 14th May – Morning Prayer 9am, Night Prayer 7.30 pm

As well as asking people to come together to pray, we are asking that  each day we individually pray the Lord’s Prayer and that we pray for 3 individuals who we would love to see become Christians!
