Harry says Goodbye

Hello Harry here!

I love playing games. Last Sunday I played hide and seek with Noel, one of our leaders here at St. John’s. Noel hunted high and low, but couldn’t find me. Not surprisingly, I fell asleep and when I woke up I had missed my slot to hand out the birthday balloons. I felt I had let Noel and the children down. This reminded me of the story of Jesus and his disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane.

When Jesus and his disciples were in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asked his disciples to stay awake and pray whilst he went off on his own. When Jesus came back he found his disciples asleep. Jesus was upset and woke them up. “Why are you asleep. Did I not ask you to stay awake and pray?” “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.” After saying this Jesus once again left to pray to his father and when he returned, again the disciples were asleep. Jesus woke them up and said “Arise, I have been betrayed.”

From this story, I have learnt not to play hide and seek before the Sunday service, stay awake and prepare for my slot, by reading the bible and asking God to guide me.

Dear Friends,

I wanted to express my sincere thanks for taking time out to read my blog, every month. It is now time for me to retire from my duties here at St. John’s (I will be sad to leave) … but as Alister always said, “Be glad it happened and not sad it’s over!”

God bless you!
