Stewardship Campaign

As September approaches, so does the planned Stewardship Campaign at both St John’s and St Luke’s. The campaign will begin on September 8th, continuing throughout September, as we seek, through our regular financial giving, to address resolving the financial shortfall we face.

Do look out for the letter that should be received by all who worship at St John’s and St Luke’s at the beginning of September. As you read the letter and the leaflet entitled “Living for life: Living Generously” we (the PCC and Stewardship Committee) encourage you to pray about your level of financial giving to our churches.

During September we will have prayer pointers and the churches will be open at various advertised times for prayer. We encourage you to reflect on God’s generosity to each one of us, and our thankful response to Him as His accepted, forgiven people. We will also remember our connectedness, commitment, and our belonging to one another as members of God’s family. What a privilege each of us has in being part of His family and seeking to ensure His Kingdom grows in our parish.

As you prepare to reflect on and respond to your level of giving please read 2 Corinthians 9: 6-8.

“Remember this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each one of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Yes, God loves a cheerful giver!

And yes, we all get a chance to be involved in responding to our gracious God in this way.

With Blessings
